From Heddon-on-the-Wall to Carlisle, this shorter walking holiday explores only the best-preserved sections of the wall, omitting the urban sections of Hadrian’s Wall Path that pass through Newcastle and Carlisle.
The Best of Hadrian’s Wall Path walk visits several of the largest Roman forts found along the Wall, as well as Thirlwall Castle and Lanercost Priory, built with stone plundered from the wall itself. This is an ideal holiday choice for those keen to explore a large section of this iconic trail in a short space of time.
This route can also be travelled in the opposite direction if preferred. Select the ‘Reverse tours’ option when choosing your itinerary.

“We had a great time and everything worked like clockwork. The trip was great and very well organised. It seems expensive, but everything does these days!”Mrs King, UK
“We loved every minute, despite the weather not being great.”Mrs Lewis, UK
“The weather was not predicted to be great but we were lucky to only have a few heavy showers. The 25mph headwind, however, was brutal! The Pubs and B&Bs were all good and welcoming. We greatly appreciate the accommodations that accepted dogs, it would be a waste of a walk otherwise! Having experienced our first organised walking holiday, we usually always book our own, this was a different perspective.”Mr Fuller, UK
“It was all very well organised with clear instructions for each day with a good mix of accommodation.”Mr May, UK
“Great B&B's. Excellent food. Extremely helpful/friendly hosts.”Mrs Van Muijlwijk-Zomerman, Canada
